What "hisab" means — and why the app is named for it

Hisab (हिसाब) is the everyday word for the account, the count, the reckoning. On an Indian construction site it is a living thing: how many mason-days went in this week, how many bags of cement actually arrived against the challan, what the RA bill claims against what was measured, what is payable after GST and TDS. Every site already keeps a hisab — in a diary, in a spreadsheet, in someone's head, in a folder of loose challans.
